New Affordable Housing Opportunities

Thanks to Governor Pataki’s leadership, there has never been a better time to build or buy a home in New York State.

• Since 1995, Governor Pataki has invested nearly $6 billion of State and Federal resources in affordable housing programs for low and medium-income families and seniors – resulting in more than 125,000 housing opportunities for New York families.
  
  
• In 1998, Governor Pataki announced more than 200 awards totaling $117.7 million to create more than 3,000 new housing units and to rehabilitate approximately 2,800 homes and apartments.
  
  
• This funding also greatly promotes New York’s economy by leveraging an additional $380 million in public and private investment.
  
  
• Governor Pataki has also ensured the distribution of $55.3 million in HOME funds that will be distributed to local communities and non-for-profit organizations.
  
  
• Governor Pataki enacted a Construction Incentive Program that allows New Yorkers to easily own their own homes and recently he increased funding by $50 million. This program has helped communities across the State by providing an avenue for low and mid-income New Yorkers to become homeowners.
