Governor Pataki's crime-fighting leadership has resulted in dramatic, across-the-board reductions in crime that lead the nation, making our streets safer for law-abiding New Yorkers.

Under Governor Pataki’s crime-fighting leadership:

  • Violent crime has been reduced by 43%.
  • Murder has dropped 51%.
  • Robbery is down 52%.
  • Burglary is down 47.6%.
  • New York ranks first in reducing violent crime, among the ten most populous states.
  • Statewide, reports of violent crime are at its lowest level since 1975.

  • Ending parole for violent felons.
