- For seven years in a row, Governor Pataki has held the line on tuition at the State University of New York (SUNY) undergraduate schools and the City University of New York (CUNY).
- To revitalize the infrastructure and facilities at SUNY and CUNY, Governor Pataki has undertaken an unprecedented $3 billion capital plan that will address critical health and safety needs, support the integration of technology into classrooms and labs and improve the overall quality of student life.
- Governor Pataki has strengthened New York's standing as a national leader in support for student financial aid.
- Governor Pataki has increased the maximum Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) award for New Yorkers attending in-state colleges and universities from $4,125 to $5,000 and has expanded TAP eligibility to allow more families to receive benefits under the program than last year.
